Flax Seed Tea

These magical seeds are known for their abundance of omega 3 essential fats but what isn’t talked about that much is flax tea, an amazing way to take in the Omega 3’s whilst at the same time hydrating, cleansing and detoxing the colon. Thanks to the mucilaginous (slightly gelatinous) liquid that is created when soaking flaxseeds with water and the soluble and insoluble fibre they hold, the flax tea helps to hold more water in the colon for longer, as well as soothing and relaxing the colon and keeping things moving.

INGREDIENTS

Up to 2 TBS of whole flaxseeds (start with a tsp and work your way up, as they can be super cleansing)

1/2 cup to 1 of hot water (start with 1/2 and work up to 1 cup)

METHOD

Add the flaxseeds and water to a cup with hot water and allow to cool down for approximately 20-40 minutes.

Once cool, add a little more hot water if needed (as the mixture can often become too thick), the consistence is thick but palpable.

**Tip – do not chew the seeds, swallow them whole for an extra cleansing effect – the shape of the seeds allows for an intestinal exfoliation
